HUSTON’S APPRECIATION COCKTAIL PARTY
On January 11, 2004 a party was held in the Venture Three clubhouse to honor Dorothy and Joe Huston before their final departure from the Park. They have been performing services above and beyond any call of duty since 1972, before Venture Three was even officially established.
At the start of the festivities, a poem written by Karen Clark titled “A Fond Farewell” was read by Betsey Drinkard. Eleven speakers affectionately recounted their many humorous and touching memories of events that involved the Hustons over these many years.
Paul Drinkard presented them with a plaque of appreciation, Dorothy Horst presented a large bouquet of pink carnations. Aline Williams, representing the Women’s Pool Exercise Group, presented Dorothy with a huge supply of chocolate candies and Bill Mutschler, representing the Billiard Players, presented Joe with two six-packs of his favorite beverage, Killington Red Beer.
Two large poster boards displayed pictures evoking recollections of the Huston’s many contributions to and enjoyment of affairs during their years of residency. Over 175 friends attended the party, a well-earned tribute to a much-loved couple who will be greatly missed. For Photos Click here: www.geocities.com/venture111.geo/huston |
